Brandon Polzin (he/him/his)
Credentials: PhD Student - Riters Lab
Address:
My research focus is on the neural regulation of vocal-social communication in songbirds. I am particularly interested in identifying the role of shared neural mechanisms that underlie both thermoregulation and social behavior.

Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree in iBio?
I was interested in pursuing research from an interdisciplinary approach, combining neuroscience, evolution, and animal behavior.
Why or what do you love about the program?
I love how many different types of biological fields are represented in iBio—our neuroscience lab is just down the hall from a landscape ecology lab!
Fun Fact: I play the saxophone in a community band here in Dane County!
Educational Background:
Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire in 2019
