How do I schedule a remote advising appointment with an advisor for the Zoology, Neurobiology, or Molecular Biology majors?

Advisors in the Department of Integrative Biology have elected to use Microsoft Teams for virtual advising appointments during the destruction. Use Starfish to schedule an appointment time to speak with an advisor.

Make sure that you download Microsoft Teams and open the program in advance of your appointment time. You may receive a notification inviting you to “join the meeting” or may receive a call directly from your advisor when your appointment begins. If you have questions about scheduling an appointment or using Microsoft Teams, email your advisor directly.

If you prefer not to use Microsoft Teams, we welcome phone calls or questions via email. We appreciate your patience and flexibility during this time.

I’m thinking of taking a summer course. Will it be offered in person or online? What courses are offered in the department?

All summer 2020 Zoology courses in the Department of Integrative Biology will now be offered online. The format of online courses will be determined by the instructor.

Department of Integrative Biology Summer 2020 Courses

I need permission to enroll in a Zoology course (ie. Zoology 152). Who should I contact?

Send an email to waitlist@zoology.wisc.edu. In the email include:

  1. Your name and Student ID#
  2. A brief description of your situation
  3. The specific (Lab/Discussion) section you’d like to add (feel free to include more than one Lab/Disc section if multiple work for you)
  4. Your Enrollment Appointment date and time

Where do I find the course authorization form for Directed Study, Honors Thesis, or Senior Honors Thesis in the Department of Integrative Biology or Neurobiology Major? Who do I send it to?

Department of Integrative Biology (iBio) Course Authorization Form

Zoology 699: directed study is available for Summer 2020 to students who are able to complete their work remotely.  Send completed forms to Nazan Gillie (atilla@wisc.edu)

Zoology students who plan to complete a Senior Thesis for the 2020-2021 school year and have questions, please contact Kelin Boldiis (boldiis@wisc.edu).

Neurobiology Major Course Authorization Form

Neurobiology students who plan to complete a Senior Thesis for the 2020-2021 school year can find information on the Neurobiology website.  Questions should be emailed to your Neurobiology academic advisor.

NOTE: Submission of this form does not mean you are enrolled in the course. You must enroll through your Student Center in MyUW using the section number of the course that will be provided to you via email.

I’m on a course waitlist, can I know my position?

If you are currently on the waitlist for a Zoology course, please be patient. You will be notified by email if you are given the opportunity to enroll. We will not be informing students of their position on the waitlist. It is important to note that the waitlist is not a guarantee for enrollment.

Course Search and Enroll App says there are open seats, but I am unable to enroll. Why can’t I enroll?

At times, the course search & enroll app may display a course with open seats but won’t allow you to enroll. If there are already students on the waitlist for this course, these open seats are being given to students already on the waitlist. If you want to be considered for enrollment, you will need to join the waitlist for the course.

I have been authorized to enroll in a course, but my enrollment cart still shows an error. What do I do?

You can now select one or many courses in your cart and trigger a revalidation to check prerequisites without having to remove and re-add the course to the cart or lock/unlock sections. To revalidate a course so that the authorization will work, select the course in your cart and then select “revalidate”.
